Oil Changes and Tyre Pressures

Howdy folks! My name is Tony and this is my latest blog. For some time, I have been trying to think of what my new blog should be about. It was yesterday when I realised that the topic had been in front of me all along. The biggest thing I have learnt recently is how to service my car. I didn't believe in auto servicing. I thought it was the kind of thing people talked about but never did just so they seemed smart. Well, I didn't feel very smart when I broke down at the side of the road. The mechanic was kind enough to teach me all of the top tricks about how to maintain a car.

Renting A Moving Truck For The First Time? Read This First

When you need to move your items to a new home or a self-storage unit, hiring movers to do it can cost you a significant amount of money. A cheaper alternative would be to rent a moving truck and do the job on your own. Making mistakes when renting a moving truck will affect your moving plans. To prevent this from happening, here are a few things you should know before renting the truck.

You Need The Right Size Truck

Renting a truck that's too small means you will have to make multiple trips, which would be costlier. On the other hand, going for an extremely larger moving truck means there will be a lot of unused space, which will still be costly because most truck rental companies will charge more for larger trucks. Estimating the size of truck you need just by looking at the items you have may not really get you the best results. Many truck rental companies usually suggest truck sizes based on how big your house is in terms of the number of rooms. Therefore, give that information to the truck rental company and they will help you get the most suitable size.

How Far You're Travelling Matters

What is the distance of your move? This will of course affect how much you will pay for the truck rental but what is more significant here is where you will drop off the truck. Most truck rental companies have branches across the country where the trucks can be returned after use. If you are travelling interstate for instance, you will have to drop the truck off at a different location for your own convenience. This is oftentimes referred to as a one-way move and it usually comes with extra charges. Therefore, when drawing your budget for the rental, make sure you have this in mind.

The Timing Is Also Important

At what time of the month are you renting the truck? End month is a time when most people plan their move. This means that at this time of the month, reservations for moving trucks will also fill up rather quickly. To avoid such hassle, book as early as you can. In fact, it may be a good idea to schedule your move mid-month. Besides, since demand for the trucks at this time is fairly low, you may even be offered the truck at a better price.
