Oil Changes and Tyre Pressures

Howdy folks! My name is Tony and this is my latest blog. For some time, I have been trying to think of what my new blog should be about. It was yesterday when I realised that the topic had been in front of me all along. The biggest thing I have learnt recently is how to service my car. I didn't believe in auto servicing. I thought it was the kind of thing people talked about but never did just so they seemed smart. Well, I didn't feel very smart when I broke down at the side of the road. The mechanic was kind enough to teach me all of the top tricks about how to maintain a car.

Budget, Mid-Budget or Premium Tyres? What You Should Know

Walk into a tyre shop, and you will find a wide range of tyres. Some are economy or budget tyres, and others are premium tyres. And there might be another collection classed as mid-range budget tyres as well.

Appreciating that it is more than just about the price will help you make an informed decision when choosing which of these tyres to buy. Here are some of the highlights of what you should know.

Why the Difference in Price?

As with many other products, the difference in price among the three classes of tyres comes down to quality. As is expected, premium tyres are of the highest quality and deliver superior all-round performance and guarantee safety while driving.

On the other end of the spectrum are the economy tyres, which have no real distinguishing features or performance even though they do just fine on the road. Without having to spend so much on ensuring the tyres have superior quality, it makes sense that manufacturers would sell these tyres at lower prices.

You will find that price for the same brand and type of tyre varies from one tyre shop to another. This is the reason why you should do some comparison shopping, moving from one tyre shop to another, as you look for the best price.

The Right Choice for You

While premium tyres offer the best performance on all fronts, these are several factors you may need to consider. One of these factors is, of course, your budget. If you can afford to go premium, then, by all means, make your way into a tyre shop and get this type.

Another factor is the overall use of your car. If you are always on the go and clock high mileage, then the budget tyres may not be a good fit for you. It may seem like you are saving money with your initial purchase, but you will find yourself replacing these tyres often, and these costs can add up. If you don't use your car much, then budget tyres would do, although you can always opt to do better.

You should also consider the efficiency and fuel economy you would like to achieve. With proper maintenance, premium tyres offer better efficiency, and you can look forward to spending less on fuel and maintenance.

Ask the Experts

The representative at the tyre shop can help you select the right type of tyre. Ask the right questions and provide requested details, and you should have all you need to make an informed choice from among budget, mid-range and premium tyres.
